About

I’m interested in incentives, constraints, and how systems actually behave under pressure.

Most policy and institutional analysis focuses on what people say they’re trying to do. I’m more interested in outcomes: what the system rewards, what it tolerates, and who benefits from it. Not just intent.

My background isn’t from a single discipline. I’ve spent the past 20 years in commercial roles, worked across different markets including a decade in London, and been involved in building and running a startup. I’ve also studied international law and international relations, and have published a novel.

Outside of work, I spend time in pursuits that have clear feedback loops; motorcycles, boxing, music. They tend to reinforce the same principle: reality doesn’t care about intention, only outcomes.

This blog is an attempt to look at what is happening beneath the surface, rather than what is being presented, and apply that lens to public policy and current events
